 Amy was Serenas best friend in the beginning. She is the peacemaker in the group. Usually, when anybody starts to pick on Serena, like the other scouts, she's there to back her up. Sailor Mercury was found when Amy was in cram school and the teacher was a monster from the Negaverse. The teacher grew to like her (wanted her to be the next target) and turned into her monster form. Amy was grabbed by her head, but there was nothing that Sailor Moon could do. On Amys forehead appeared her blue planetary symbol. Luna hurled her the transforming stick and she became the second Sailor Scout, Sailor Mercury. Sailor Mercury has a certain degree of control over water. Her special celestial power allows her to spray villains with foam bubbles, confusing and temporarily blinding them, giving the other Sailor Scouts the advantage. She also has special blue goggles that help her to see what is not detected by the naked eye. She activates her visor (blue goggles) by a twist of her right earring. She uses a mini super computer to find weaknesses of the enemy. It also enhances her visor. Sailor Mercury is the brains of the group. This is why they call her the "Brilliant Fighter." 
Amys boyfriend is Greg. He was one of the carriers of the Rainbow Crystals and had psychic powers. He therefore knew the answer
to tests, and knew Amys true identity. Amy had a crush on him for a while, but was afraid to ask him out. He had a crush on
her to. When the Negaverse finally attacked Greg for his crystal, Mercury saved him and they told their true feelings to each
other. They were finally a couple, eventhough he only appeared twice in the show.
Amys family is very rich. She lives with her mom in a wealthy apartment complex, because her parents are divorced. Her mom is a doctor, and her dad is a traveling painter. Amy is very smart with an IQ of 300. She is a caring and thoughtful person. She always finds a way to get the Scouts out of difficult situations. Exams are extremely important in the Japanese education system. A handful of exams will pretty much determine your position in society. This is the reason that Amy is constantly studying, and talks about studying.
